We are delighted to welcome Ken Forrester to the cellar studio, as we explore the beautiful and versatile Chenin Blanc grape (and wines). One of our themes this Term, in the Beverageintelligence University, is the Art of Storytelling. Ken just has that natural knack to weave a story, and of course create the most beautiful wine. Enjoy this conversation with Ken below, or directly on our Youtube Channel.

Ken Forrester, often dubbed the "King of Chenin Blanc," is a highly regarded figure in the South African wine industry. Starting his career in the hotel and restaurant business, he transitioned to winemaking in 1993 with the purchase of a historic farm in Stellenbosch.   Recognizing the potential of Chenin Blanc, a widely planted but often underappreciated variety in South Africa, Forrester dedicated himself to producing high-quality wines from this grape. His pioneering approach and commitment have significantly elevated the status of South African Chenin Blanc on the global stage.   Forrester founded the Chenin Blanc Association and his wines, particularly the acclaimed "FMC" (Forrester Meinert Chenin), have garnered international recognition and numerous awards. His philosophy centers on crafting handcrafted wines that showcase the unique terroir of Stellenbosch and the versatility of Chenin Blanc. Today, Ken Forrester Vineyards is recognized as a leading producer of premium wines, with Forrester himself remaining a passionate advocate for South African wine.
